Re: OMG HELP ME

Try disconnecting the battery for and hour and then see, if not then try overnight. This will probably reset the light but not the code that it threw into memory. GSM and Gordgee bought a ODBCII tool that can do the reset, try PMing one of them to get the model or look in the FAQ board. Good luck.

Re: OMG HELP ME

Not dangerous, just annoying. The tool that I mentioned cost just a little more than what you would pay the dealer and can be used on other cars that are ODBCII compliant.

Re: OMG HELP ME

Jaymes, The Service Engine Soon light you have tripped will go out eventually. According to my service peeps, after about 50 start and stop cycles.
As Merlin said it's not dangerous to drive with the MIL lit up just annoying. If the dealer wants that much to reset it, why don't you go buy an OBD11 scan tool. They are worth their weight in gold if yu have a problem (or need to reset a MIL). You can read up on the one I got here: www.codereader.com
and also see where they are available. My model # is 3100.
You can buy one for the cost of a couple of dealer resets.
I'm not sure the battery disconnect will reset the MIL but you could try.
Good luck.

Re: OMG HELP ME

redwillow., I bought mine in Canada, so prices will be much diff if you are in U.S. Mine was on sale for $150 CDN, reg. price is $250 CDN.
It features:
Comprehensive Component Monitor
Misfire monitor
Fuel system monitor
these are monitored continuously.

These features are non continuous meaning they perform their monitoring once per trip:
O2 sensor monitor
O2 sensor heater monitor
Caltalytic monitor
Heated Catalytic monitor
EGR system monitor
EVAP system monitor
Secondary air system monitor
Air conditioning monitor.

Very user friendly with a comprehensive manual, showing many Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Their url is Code Reader which has much info on it's use and availability.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Re: OMG HELP ME

Wait this tool moniters all of that for you? Where does it display the readings?

Thanks - Joey Avino

Malx, It really is a nice tool. This shows the display. You'll notice the little round icons at the top (section 13). The monitors that light up are the ones that are supported by the G, (about 8 on our cars). Should there be a malfunction, the large letters and numbers would show the problem, which you would cross reference in the manual.

Re: OMG HELP ME

It displays the codes on the OBD II monitor. It's listed for $175 US and you can buy it online. And here's what the mfr. says it works on:

"The 3100 OBD II Code Reader is designed to work on all OBD II compliant vehicles. All 1996 and newer vehicles (cars and light trucks) sold in the United States are OBD II compliant.

NOTE: Federal law requires that all 1996 and newer cars and light trucks sold in the United States must be OBD II compliant; this includes all Domestic, Asian and European vehicles."
