CAI or ztube?

Thank you everyone for your advice... I need to make a decision as to whether to get a CAI (INJEN) or ztube (UTR) with a pop charger (JWT). Please give me your individual opinions as to which is better... INJEN CAI??? or ztube with a pop charger...? Both cost around roughly the same... actually, i think purchasing the ztube and pop charger is a little more expensive... Once again... thank you for your advice... This will be the first mod I put on my car... are there any objections???

i installed a z-tube with a drop in K&N and basically its all about sound...It's just louder at higher rpm's and u get a nice sucking noise when you press on gas pedal... I was considering going with the injen CAI until a friend of mine had got water into his engine... NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY= $15,000+... anyways they came out with some hydro cover but i dont know how well that works.... Your better off going with the Z-tube and pop charger and also the install is very simple... Later

Personally, I decided to go witht he Z-tube and K&N combo b/c I'm too lazy to take off the front bumper when I need to change the filter.

It all depends on what you want. If you want to lose some low end power and gain more highend power then go with the CAI. If you dont want to lose low end power and gain some in the midrange/highend then get the z-tube/PC combo. Personally i'm going with the z-tube/PC. You can get a z-tube from a member of my350Z.com for cheap. If you want it brand new go to performancenissanparts.com or everythingg35. $75

I have the Injen CAI on my G and I love it. It sounds great all the time. As far as install you DO NOT have to take off your front bumper to put it on or change the filter. Ultimately it is up to you. There is not much difference between the two systems. Even if it is a horse or two you will never feel the difference. As far as water going into the engine, you have to pretty much submerse your car for that to happen. The filter is protected with the underskirting.

I used to have an AEM on my set-up but got rid of it in favor of a Stillen intake/Z-tube. My primary reason is the fact that the location of the filter made it highly vulnerable to salt and road sludge (which did a number on my orginal AEM filter, so I discarded it and picked up a cheap Pep Boys/APC cone filter head). I'm actaully going to do a dyno test soon to see which one has the better power and I'll be sure to post them on here!

JC knows............

Regardless of which system you buy you'll only be
getting a small of H/P gain but from 3,500 rpm the
sound is killer. I purchased from Everything G35
the complete system from Z tube thru Stillen box
which contains a large K&N filter. (easy install)
Your next mod should be the MotorDyne spacer.
This mod will give you H/P and the most outrageous
sound on the planet! Good Luck!!!

Really? I was told that you have to remove the front bumper to get to the filter, which was why I went the the Z-tube and K&N. I'm going to have to look into that, thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, the instructions tell you to remove the front bumper. However there is no need to do so. The reason they tell you to remove the front bumper is to cut a small portion of the styrofoam insulation inside your bumper away to fit the filter. The filter sits inside your bumper. I found it alot easier to just remove the underskirting. I did a search and found this out before. Total install time was around 40 min.
