Where is the dyno info that shows they gain more than 5hp? I would like to see this. Thanks.

3) sure, if you're a tard and spend $1000+ for nismo or crawford. OR you could spend 400 for strup or 300 for topspeed (both with EXCELLENT build/weld quality), then another 3-400 to install.

headers > exhaust

Btw, do you actually have headers or are you just parotting what you've read? (my comments come from my actual experiences w/ them)

edit: what the problem is, imho, is that people expect headers to perform the same on here as on a V10 Viper, like +40rwhp.......it ain't gona happen like that, so then they get all poopy and say they're a waste

Some might want to look at this test. This is some good info and dyno after each install.

LMAO-nade

great thread, even HE thought there was something wrong with a dyno

I mean, c'mon, headres loosing 12tq and a reflash netting +2rwhp....i don't think so. something was ****ed up at that place. just about as good as the place that dyno'd that exhaust and LOST 60RWhp from it, lmao. Yea, 60rwhp loss from a catback, riiiiight

That was on my limited search I did. Can you please provide me the link where it shows the gains you mentioned.

It's easy enough to simply say that because of one bad dyno that headers may not be worth it. Just like I think this dyno may have been a bit high per the average. I researched many different headers and looked over about 10 different independant dyno results before deciding to purchase them. I'd say that on average, you should be able to get 8-12hp with a quality header. That's about what you could expect to get for the same quality exhaust.

Also in regards to 15hp from exhaust alone, I dyno'd on a G35 dyno day where my car (AT sedan w/ K&N and Z tube) was nearly identical to the car after me, but he also had a Stillen Gen1 exhaust. He actually had LOWER numbers than me on each and every run. Same dyno; same day; same conditions.

Does that mean that quality aftermarket exhausts don't make power? No. But if a person believes quotes from Stillen saying their exhaust makes 21hp and 22tq, then they are naive to think that they'll see anywhere near those results. I think 6-12hp is a little more reasonable.

Stillen Exhaust for example, $800-1000 new. You can bolt it on yourself, or $150 for a install and get 15~ hp.
Come on now. Let's be reasonable about this. Unless you're buying the more expensive headers (Crawford, Nismo, etc), they aren't going to be more than $1000. Borlas can be had for around $550-$600 in stainless. Stillen for around $700 in stainless. I agree, $300-400 for install is about right for most headers.

BTW: Stillen exhaust prices are more like $950 for the sedan and $1200 for the coupe version.

I hope you understand that I'm not trying to bash exhausts and I'm not trying to tout headers. I'm just saying that both are around the same price for the same moderate gains. If a person wanted some cheap horsepower on the exhaust side, you can always buy some test pipes for around $150-250. That's an easy self-install with good power gains for the price. You just then need to worry about inherent drawbacks (raspiness, not environmentally as safe, potential trouble with law enforcement, etc).

here's an example

+16hp/+17tq....pretty good.

trust me, headers make a HUGE difference on this car; not like on a Viper, but still fairly decent.

Also, There was a dyno done on Tony's Car at motordyne with the TS headers. I remembered it gained some really good power
