Just ordered MD 5/16".buyers remorse

Now I'm wondering if I should have ordered the 1/2".

Is does not seem that the 1 hp diff is worth loosing the use of the engine cover.

I'm hoping to feel a little bit of improvement, but the dyno's do not appear to show any real change until 4k+ RPMs. I do love the sound of my Z tube & hope this makes it even sweeter.

Any comments are welcome... (I prob could change the order if I do it soon)

5/16 you can still use your engine cover I believe.. At least my Z cover fits fine with the 5/16" spacer.

spacer

I had a 1/2" MD spacer for 3 month. Sound louder.
Actually got worse 1/4 mile time with it than without it.

Took to dealer, found lean signals repeated 30 times in the dianostic machine.

took a small loss & sold it to the next victum,

Do you recommend no spacer at all???

What does it mean to run lean?

shredX trust me you will not be disappointed with the sound at all it just sounds more deeper than before !! installed my MD 5/16 Spacer two days ago, it pulls harder i`ll dyno it after two days to check what i gained from this great mod i recommend MREV2 with 5/16 these two mods will give you similar gains to the 1/2 spacer without the need to take off your engine cover

Personally I lilke the engine without the cover. I know it's about how you like it, but that engine cover is just a heat trap. Our engines run hot as it is and doing away with the cover may just help a little bit, then again i like the plain look anyway.

That's why I like the 350z cover. Doesn't trap heat over the intake manifold.

Please explain. Did you have air leak? Or your Air/Fuel Ratio was too lean? Any other breathing mods? Which diagnostic machine - Consult 2? Thank you

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm sure there are many more happy vs unhappy customers. That's why I ordered the d*** thing anyway. It's just that I read that alarming thread...

Anyway, I never thought about the engine cover being a heat trap. Hmmm.... I'll have to think about my options.

Side note: Just ordered the HKS rear section today. Next week (k&n drop in + z tube + 5/16 spacer + HKS) my car should be sounding pretty sweet.

I appreciate all the comments.

the plastic engine cover is better off then on and heres my logic...

no one really looks at your engine bay, and the damn plastic cover traps a lot of heat under there...your engine will run cooler and dont forget the weight reduction (like 3 lbs) ^^

I agree the cover is a bit of a heat trap, but you can be assured that once the intake manifold becomes heat soaked, it doesn't matter if the cover is on there or not. At the track, I don't run with the cover, but I can tell you that with a cold intake manifold or a scalding hot intake manifold, the car performs no differently. It's 14.3-14.4@97+ all day long. The car is incredibly consistent.
