WTB[Canada]: Speedo / Cluster for '06 6MT coupe in KM/H
Speedo / Cluster for '06 6MT coupe in KM/H
I know this is likely a long shot, but Id like to swap out the cluster so KM/H is the larger font. Car has very low mileage as well, roughly 52,000 MILES when I parked it in the fall, so id need one with roughly 83,200 KM on the odometer.
I have come across a few here and there on ebay etc, but they all have 200,000+ KM.
Like i say I figure its a long shot, but figured Id create a thread in case someone sees this who is parting out a very low mile coupe.
Cheers

Find a canadian one for sale is probably the best bet. Do they have eBay in Canada? If so I'd start there.
You would then disassemble the cluster, replace JUST THE GAUGE LAYOUT which is a piece of plastic that sits on top of the circuit board. You will need to remove all the needles and stuff to do this.
Then you are keeping your existing cluster, with the existing mileage, but you would be swapping out the piece underneath that has all the gauges printed on it.
Check out the timestamp on this video, this is what I'm talking about.
This video actually does a really good job explaining exactly how to do this too. You wouldn't need to disassemble any further, just swap those plastic screens, then fast forward in the video to where he details how to put it into diagnostic mode to put the needles back on.
I do recommend putting the cluster into diagnostic mode first, and taking some really good pictures of where the needles are sitting while in diagnostic mode with the trip button pushed down. That way you ensure everything is in the EXACT same location.

Ah there's an option I hadn't thought of... i was hoping there were some sort of gauge overlays available but looks like those were 2003 / 2004 only... I had added some speed hut Indiglo overlay gauges on my old accord coupe, eliminating mph all together.
And yes i agree about test mode, as my needless were all inaccurate when i removed them for those gauge overlays... drove me nuts having inaccurate speedo.
That's the biggest reason I'd like ro swap them, as a few km/h will be difference between getting pulled over or not... and using mp/h has that margin of error...
Anyways, thanks for the tip, will see what I can source on ebay.ca / kijiji

You need one from a 2005-2007 6MT coupe or 2005-2006 6MT sedan if you do NOT have rear active steering. If you do have rear active steering it needs to be 2006-2007 6MT coupe. I don't think the earlier rev-up engine instrument clusters had the RAS light but maybe someone else could check their 2005 6MT and chime in. You can see the outline of the word on the cluster if you look at it from the correct angle with a flashlight.
When you turn the key to ON do you have the RAS light turn on in the middle right next to the speedometer?
There was a change to the cluster from 2003-2004 and 2005-2007. It's easy to tell them apart because the newer one has the programmable shift light / rev indicator and extra "ring" in the top middle around the word REV.
