Clear bra removal?

Not sure where to start this thread so I apologize in advance if its in the wrong spot.

Background: Bought a used G35 that has had the clear bra on it for 3 years and its not looking so great anymore. (Scratches and a not so "see-through" look)

Just wondering if anyone knows about whether there will be issues with discoloration of the paint if I were to remove the clear bra..... and if so any suggestions on alternatives to removing it. Also I will be adding a new lip in the near future and advice on whether or not it will look odd to have an unprotected lip and a clear bra'ed bumper.

TIA for the feedback.

I removed 2/3 of clear bra from my hood and it was gawd awful~ Took 8 hours total to get rid of about 20 sq.ft of yellowed out plastic crap. I parked the car under the sun for 4 hours and then peeled it off. Unfortunately most of the adhesive stayed on the hood. Then it took A LOT of hard rubbing, half a dozen towels, gallons of sweat to rub off the golf ball sized goo.

If you ask me - Pay people to remove it for you. I wouldn't do it again

if it's just scratches, have you thought about getting it polished?

Well what I was asking was does the paint itself look discolored after removal? I've heard plenty of stories of how much of a PIA it is to remove the adhesive but was just wondering if the paint will look the same as the areas that werent covered.

How did yours come out Sukairain?

err i just ripped mine off without much adhesive left over. just pull perpendicular and you should be fine. the bra was on the car for about a year. it did leave a bit of a line but it buffed out perfectly...and now i have a million rock chips on my new front bumper : (

Just heat it up and peel it off. AS far as getting the adhesive off, just use some poilshing compound on it. It takes some work, but must be removed before installing another kit. Your paint should look just the same under it as long as it wasnt an aftermarket paint job. Sometimes if the paint hasnt dried properly, then the CB kit could peel the paint with it. But thats rare.
Anyway, it is a little bit of work, but worth it. I do installs and removed my old and installed the new one. Hope thsat helps.
