License plate bolts frozen!

Just a little heads up for anyone in the snowbelt area or where salt is spread in the winter months.

I tried yesterday to remove my rear license plate assembly to replace the plate. I was not able to loosen the mounting screw on one side. the black clip w/nut on the bumper was rusted to the screw. When I attempted to remove the screw, the nut broke free from the clip and the screw just turned with it.

I finally had to drill out the head of the screw and in the process I hit the edge of the bumper and took off some paint!

I will be replacing both clips today, and suggest you loosen the screws every couple of months or use some anti-seize to prevent this from happening to you.

A simple $.10 part caused me so much aggrevation. I will be using nylon plate screws this time around to prevent any more corrison from forming in the nut/thread area.

just a heads up. check out your plate screws, if they look rusted try to replace them................thanks for allowing the rant.
