Question Clearance & corners & fogs...oh my

Hey all,

I've been doing hours of research and searching the forums on upgrading my OEM lights the past few days and have gotten some useful information, but still need some advice from you, the experts. So here goes.

High/low + fogs:
I just ordered the Philips Ultinon 6000K HID replacement bulbs for my low beams. I'd like the fogs to match my new Ultinons, but I want to keep my high beams. To do this, I heard I'll need an HID conversion kit for the fogs but couldn't find much info in that area. I also need to make sure the new fog bulbs match the Ultinon 6000K's exactly. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to address these two concerns?

If I can't find any good suggestions on this topic I may just go with a non-HID yellow fog to replace the stock lamps instead. Before I go that route, I want to see if other G35'ers are doing the HID conversion for the fogs and getting good results.

Clearance + corners:
I am also ready to change my clearance bulbs. I want them to be amber and match my OEM side markers and turn signal. I found some others who went with an amber clearance bulb, but I've not been able to get a manufacturer and part number for an exact match to the OEM corners and turn signal.

If I am unable to get an amber match for my clearance strips, I will probably try to get them to more closely match my Ultinons. But again, before I explore that option, I'd like to get some feedback on the amber clearance bulbs first.

Can you guys help me out?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

you can get any h4 foglight bulb and keep the hi/low function. in my honest opinion, i think piaa xtreme force would do the trick.

here are piaa xtreme force on my corolla compared to my dads stock bulbs

top = my corolla
bottom = my dads van
left = low beam
right = high beam

-----------------------------

do you have clear corners with amber bulbs? or amber corners with generic peanut bulbs?

if you have clear corners with the amber bulbs that came with them...then i HIGHLY suggest you find someone in your area who has clear corners and exchanged them for some LEDs or some sort of other aftermarket bulb. you shouldnt have a problem with this because many people get clear corners and dont use the amber peanut bulbs. luckily, the side marker bulbs are the same as the clearance light so they will fit perfectly.

^^that's what i did to ensure they would match perfectly. cant go wrong that way, imo.

i'm sure you can even ask around the forum for someone to mail those bulbs to you. i recall someone needing something very small and plenty of people were happy to give the item away and even pay for shipping themselves! shipping for these things will not be expensive at all.

hope this helps a little..

Hey Hero,

Thanks for the help. I have some more questions based on your answers:

1. Would the H4 fogliht PIAA's match my 6000K Ultinon's? Or is it safer to go with a 6000K bulb? If I decide to keep the fogs yellow, what's the best yellow fog? I've read a lot of people who were extremely disappointed with the outcome of their yellow fog upgrade.

2. It sounds like the amber bulbs that come with the clear corners are the perfect fit to keep the clearance strip matching with my OEM corners and turn signals. I've posted on some forums to see if I can find some donors. As a last resort, can I buy just the bulbs from an Infiniti parts dealer?

Thanks again Hero!

Brian

it's very difficult to match lights with different brands. if i wanted to match my ultinons, i would get xtreme force. if i wanted a hue of purple then id get piaa super plasma gtx.

as for the best yellow fogs you can get...yellow caps...theyre basically yellow condoms that you put over your stock bulbs this will give you the deepest yellow...luminics also makes a great yellow foglight

i dont think infiniti dealers stock amber 194/168 bulbs because they only come with nissan clear corners. the stock bulbs are regular halogen peanut bulbs...

i'm sure youll find SOMEONE that doesnt need their amber bulbs...ill ask around for yah..

Thanks much. I'll probably go for the Luminics yellow bulb. What's the exact model I should order for my '03 coupe? Also, I will still have my high beams, right?

And thanks a lot for trying to help me find those amber side marker bulbs for my clearance strip!

Later,
B

i used the yellow caps, only problem is you can see the yellow reflection during the day. That being said I'm taking my caps off this weeked, just too much going on with different colors, I have knock off 6000k hids, super white led in corner, and oem orange bulbs for turn and sidemarker
