Laying sealant over "drive thru" wash
Laying sealant over "drive thru" wash
The weather out here for the last month has just sucked with road salt down on the road for a while, so on and so forth.
I want to get my car washed but can't do it myself as my driveway is iced over. I am comfortable with a drive thru in the area but am wondering if I can lay some Zaino sealant over their basic wash service.
I want to know if this will degrade the quality of the seal or cause any problems with the finish down the road.
Keep in mind, the ONLY reason I have this sealant is for long term protection. I'm not really a show car paint finish type of guy.
Thanks,
Chris

You only want to lay Zaino on a really really really clean surface. It locks anything underneath it in. That's why they tell you to claybar your car first. It would still protect your paint, just not as well. You'd also have to wipe your car off when you got home because I'm sure you'd end up with a lot of salt and dirt just driving from the car wash.
yes, but you really should get a claybar, as it's truly amazing how much better the paint feels after you do it. at least that's how i felt the first time i used one.
you can get one at walmart or any auto parts store for pretty cheap. i think i got the Meguire's claybar kit that came with (1) claybar, (1) bottle of detail spray [use as lube], and (1) microfiber detailing cloth.
EDIT: forgot to mention, the kit i bought was like 15 bucks. pretty cheap.

Might look into it tomorrow. Got rid of most of the salt, but I'm going to have to rewash now anyway.
I forgot to mention, this is an 07 with only about 1300 miles. Kind of premeptive protection, 1000 miles too late.

The process is lengthy at first but it's well worth it and you only have to do it once.
Get it washed and then claybar it. You will probably have to wash it again to get all of the residue from your "lube" off of the car. Then lay your Zaino down.
