New front bumper

Well I was driving to work in my g and some plastic box falls off a truck and I can either hit it or swerve onto uneven dirt and grass. I choose to hit it. (plus I was doing 80 and I didn't want to get rear end by braking.) Anyway now the bumper has a little dent in it and some scratches on it.

Its not the a major problem the only damage so far that I saw was that and the black panel under the car came a little loose. It's at the dealer now because I didn't want to drive it and they gave me a loaner. I want to get 06 style front bumper but I don't want to pay a retarded amount for it. Speaking from a cost perspective what would be better getting the my bumper painted, or buy a new bumper 06 ( have no idea the cost ) or just leave it as is and try to clean up the black marks it made.

This is in no way a show car and I do drive it everyday, but I do want it to look nice. I'm will to spend about 600 - 750 to fix it. What should I do

I'm looking at converting my 04 bumper to the 06 as well.

Here's what I found:

i) The 06 bumper can be found on the following website for about $291

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...=1&catalogid=2

there apparently is a difference between the bumper of a coupe with active rear bumper versus one without it.... I would presume the active rear one is the one we want.

ii) There is no selection for paint code, so they must come un-painted. You should be able to get it painted to match your car for a few hundred $'s.

iii) install it

This is what my research found. Hopefully others can help steer us in the correct direction.

Why not buy aftermarket? The Karuma bumper is sick looking besides why go back to stock if your going to replace a part and repaint anyway? If you look you might be able to find someone with a bumper already painted in your color then you just have to swap em out. If it doesn't look to bad you may find something just don't get in to big a hurry.

Also I have splash guards so if I do an aftermarket I would want it to blend in with the splash guards because I'm not at the point where I would kit the whole car yet

I hear ya. I was going to do the front bumper first on my car its an '05 Lakshore Slate with nicks everywhere. I have decided to go ahead and either get the Karuma or the Kenstyle front. I keep changing my damn mind. One day I want fogs the next day I dont want to mess with them. So i'll probably have to wait a few months on my sides I have splash guards too.

The '06 "Sport" bumper cover is the one you want. They list at about $280.00. Refinishing it adds another $300 to that price, so it should fit within your budget. I put one on my '03 coupe after someone backed into me. My body shop said I would not be happy with any kind of repair, so I replaced it with the new "sport" bumber. I'm glad I did, it looks much better than my old one. I love the lip. However, you must specify the "sport" bumper cover. The standard bumper cover is the same as the one you now have.

thanks lowrider! That makes sense....the parts catalogs spec the 'active rear' bumper and that is the Sport bumper. Is your Sport bumper lower than your original bumper or are they the same height from the ground?

It's the same height off the ground as the old one. It uses the same bottom attachment bolts and holes.
