Do i need to keep sanding?!?!?

Well i'm trying to prep my oem grill before having it painted, and was wondering how everyone else sanded their's...i'm doing this by hand if it makes any difference...so far i have only sanded the left side if you are looking at the car...i used med grit so far and plan to follow up with some fine grit, but does the left side look like its ready for the fine grit

OEM finish side

SANDED side

I don't know what number grit you are using...if you are going to paint it yourself. then I would send it down completely smooth with 150 grit so it will ensure a safe adhesion. If it's going to be painted by a shop. Just make sure the whole thing is uniform..they will do the rest.

for those that did this themselves, did the grill look like brushed aluminum when you were done? i've been sanding this thing for hours expecting to find plastic underneath it all, but all's i've got is a light silver color similar to the dash trim
