Tint on new G35 Coupe

I got the tinting done on my new '07 Black G35 Coupe 5AT. It looks great except the back window. The tint stops about 5 inches from the top, rather than all the way up the window. The glass/tinting shop said they can't bring it all the way up because of the black shade/dimpled pattern at the top of the back window. Anyone else heard of this? I haven't seen anyone else's cars with 5 inches of no tint in the back. Maybe I just haven't noticed. They also dropped something on the brushed aluminum shifter panel and made a nice dent right next to the D indicator. Not mechanical but looks like crap. Unfortunately because its small I didn't notice it until I had already signed he statement that the vehicle was returned in the same condition given. Not to be ****, but I just got the car this past Wednesday, I don't want a dented interior already. Can just that panel be replaced?

im guessing you got it tinted somewhere else instead at the dealership?

well if they did that to your back window they might have done that to your side windows as well. the ones with the dimple thingys.

i really never heard of this but i remember when i got my car tinted. the guy that was tinting it warn me that those dimple thingys are going to make it hard to tint because when the tint is placed over them, they usually look like tiny lil air bubbles that are trapped between the dimples. and he was right. i just told him to do the best he could. eventually it came out as i expected. but except for the side windows. i rather had have him leave those lil air bubbles around my side windows. it kinda makes like a white trim around. sort of.

as for your dent, doode, i'd go back and tell them whats up no matter what. you just got your car! c'mon now! you should not have to pay for their actions. but yes you can get it replaced.

as some people have already stated that 5 inches of black dots is called a "dot matrix". sometimes it will tint and sometimes it won't. on my accord the tint woudln't stick to the dot matrix so it was cut just before and they put on a black vinyl strip on for me. apparently, it's different every car. even though we all own G coupes doesn't mean all of our cars would be able to hold the tint in that spot. luckily the tint stuck to the dot matrix on my G.

Simple, you went to an unexperienced shop. Anyone that knows what they are doing will tint over the dot matrix and make it look good.

^^^^agreed

That is retarded that they did that. Filling in the dotted part isnt that big of a deal. I had mine done by a really good shop, they tinted that part but it wasnt completely smooth initially. Eventually it heated up and conformed to the bumps perfectly.

It must look pretty crappy like that. I'd take it back and demand that they retint it and cover the dotted part whether they like to or not.

That's bull crap. Experienced tint shops have no problems tinting over the dot matrix.

Mine has been tinted all the way up that back window since Oct 04 and still looks flawless so to those who say it cannot or should not be done, I wouldn't believe it.

to make it work (flawless) they used a heat gun on that area. Shop
must have spent at least 30 mins on that area. Cant tell that I have the

Our tint shop put black vinyl on the inside top and then followed it with tint. They did it to my G35 coupe and I35. Also most tint shops can do the whole window in one piece.
