Coupe grille mod

I got tired of trying to find a gialla grille in the US, searched for weeks, so I decided to paint mine. I first scotch brited the flat surfaces, then masked the faces of the bars, then painted the grille flat black. It was easy but once again time consuming. I wanted a billet look, classy but sporty. The whole plastic chrome grille looked a little cheesy to me. I'm very happy with the look of it now. It also matches my black housing headlamps.

I would be interested in seeing some better after pics of the grill. I saw The pics you posted with the bumper and Wheels and it looks incredible. The wheels are beyond words.

Re: Coupe grille mod

joenismo,
I also scotchbrited my grill a while back. I left the outside Border of the Grill Chrome to set off the Brushed Aluminum Look a little more(hard to tell by this Pic). IMO the Brushed Alum. look, goes better with the Diamond Graphite...
Hey, everyone calls me NismoRick, we must be related.

Re: Coupe grille mod

I have a question for you all. My g is black, and I'm thinking about painting the stock grill glossy black like the body. How do you think it'll come out? Does anyone know how much I should expect to pay?

Re: Coupe grille mod

Thanks Guys, in the immortal words of Sherman Clump.
"Why thank you, I'm Fatter, I... I mean I'm Flattered"

Docmassage, you can buy a new grill from Infiniti for around $130+. That way you'll have your original if you don't like the new look. And if you don't want to paint it yourself you can probably get a body shop to paint it for around $150.00 or less ...
Here's an old Pic of my car w/ a Black grill, IMO it didn't look so Hot with the Diamond Graphite, but it would probably look Good on a Black G...

Re: Coupe grille mod

Thanks for the info rugrat. By the way, do you think it'd be too much to paint both the headlights and the grill black? Should I stick with the grill?
