I actually just bought an '05 G, it hasn't arrived yet though. What exactly is involved in getting a clear bra on a car?

- Does it cover the entire car?
- How much does it cost?
- How long will your car be in the shop for?
- Do most body shops do it?

The clear bra is more to cover the parts of the car which get hit by rocks and sand. You can cover the entire car but that would be very expensive. If you get the front bumper, part of the hood, and the mirrors it'll run you about $500 installed. My dad got one on his 06 M5 and it works great. Highly recommended.

Doesn't it look strange if you have only part of your car covered by the material? I guess my question is, when you look at the car from a normal distance, do you actually see the bra?

It really depends on what color your car is. If your car is black it is the most visible. Most other colors look fine. If you look at it closely you can definitely see the bra, from a distance its invisible though.

Sounds like rock problems and not paint problems. I've had a clear bra since my 05 was new and no chips. Pretty near every car with a painted bumper has chips.

My car is DG and the clear bra is nearly invisible. I think it's most visible on laser red.

haha. This is true about the soft paint. My ca was a little dusty and my nephew wrote his name on my hood. I got some quick detailer and wash the dust away... Guess what, His name was still on my hood. wtf?

Cheap azz paint. I had to use some cleaner wax to remove the light scratches.

Our clearcoat is crap...

I have an Ivory Pearl and have a couple small nicks and chips on my front bumper...I was washing and detailing my car yesterday and used the high pressure spray on it, and all of a sudden a chunk of paint about the size of a quarter came off of my car..WTF right? I'm definitely getting my front bumper repainted. Problem with the pearl white color is that after you repaint the bumper, the panels will look mismatched...anyone having problem repainting their IP? And I hate the clear bra on white because it turns the color yellow, especially on a white car...
