Agreed, I bought a sliver one so it wouldn't be so noticable. I test drove a black 2004 TL before I bought the G- their paint didn't fair any better, hood was nasty. I've never done a clear bra but it sounds like a great idea. I just polish and wax the hell out of mine, it does the job okay.

Nissan must have heard our cries because the new EX35 has self-repairing paint. Yes, the paint can repair itself to a degree. It's a new paint that Nissan and, I believe, 3M co-developed.

I have to agree, although my car is an '04 which I bought in late '06.The dealer had to replace the front bumper 'cause the lady who leased it hit a parking meter or something.
That bumper is barely 15 months old and the paint (niks, chips, finish)looks like f#%k!! And I'm pretty **** about wash/wax/polish.
I well get it re-painted but this time I'll know to have it 3M'd or clear bra'd.

Dave,

Sounds like a marketing gimmick if you ask me! First thing that comes to mind is how crustaceans (sp?) grow back claws!

I have to admit, the paint on my previous car (Volkswagen) was far better.

^ I also have noticed that on the roof of my car, plus a couple small rust spots on the corners of the front side body panels. I never encountered that from my previous Lexus ('01 ES300). Seems to be a weird difference between the body mechanics of Toyota vs. Nissan.
