i hate the G's paint!!

god dayum it! i hate infiniti's weak paintjob! i mean, my whole front bumper has soo many scratches, and grazes from even just dirt, or my jeans! man, pisses me off. theres a new white mark on my front hood, that i dont know came from where. maybe someone backed into me, but i dont see and indentations. my backpack barely grazed the side door, then theres another mark. Gosh man! maybe its more easily noticeable bc its DG, but still, i think their clearcoat is crap compared to lexus and bmw, and honda.

u guys agree? how much would it cost to have them repaint the whole front bumper? and whats involved? will they have to take it off or cover the rest of the car and then repaint it?

Cool Paint

I have to agree with you. I just got a CB colored one a month ago, it is used and was spotless at the dealership, now it looks like you could play connect the dots with the front end. They are not chips, but indentions. The bug hits it...I wipe off the guts and I get an imprint of the bug. It stinks.

I have the same problem. I was quoted around $300 to repaint the front.

I have to agree, why is it soo soft? My front end has many tiny chips and dings. What's worst that on both sides where the fender meets the bumper near the headlight area, is a bubble where the paint is peeling, both sides in the exact area!

that's water based clear coats for yah. You should've got a clear bra installed from the start. Get it repainted, and clear bra immediately, heheh... You won't have to worry about chips after that..

Wow, when i bought my 04 G35 last month (DG, also) I could not for the life of me find a nick or scratch anywhere on teh whole car. I guess its a testament to the fine car the orginal owner took of the vehicle.

After owning it i do see a few tiny nocks on the hood from small pebbles, but to me no worse than any other car ive owned, i love my car, i love the color, i love the 6MT + RWD awesomeness of it.

it's not just the G, its been a problem with all cars since they removed lead from paint.

After my last repaint, I clear bra'd the whole damn front. I am now happy.

Whole front

I cleared the tip of my hood (18") & the front fascia but the other 70% of my hood & lots on my driver's door is really chipped & I mostly drive city & only have 18,000 miles. The paint sucks big time!

Its one of Nissan's flaws IMO. Since around 2002, Ive noticed their paint quality has decreased, its just way too soft. My G's front bumper and hood has so many chips its rediculous but my previous '95 altima, the paint was immaculate considering its age.

This is one of the main reasons I am the only one that washes the car. I rarely take it to a car wash and if I do, its touchless only.

good to see how many ppl agree with me. one of my customers is an engineer for honda but now does some sort of survey or somesort for all cars. He says that nissan/infiniti has one of the best motors out there, but their craftsmanship on the car as a whole is very shiesty. thats one thing that they need to really improve on.

is a clear bra a problem for those of us who have the front lip? and where can you get them installed?

Just get a clear bra, like someone above mentioned. All the cars I had the front bumper and hood took a betting from the road debris. So when I got my G, I had the clear bra put on.

Good point guys....didn't really think of it as being the paint they use, but guess that's the culprit. I always thought it was because there's bad road debris where I drive. I have SOOOOO many little silver speckles along the front face of my hood (from the paint getting nicked/coming off)...luckily our hoods are aluminum, otherwise I'd have lot's of rust speckles along there instead!

Oh, and I'm on my 2nd front bumper, as I had mine replaced after my raccoon incident. This one is already shot too! The clear coat is coming off in like 3 places...it's ridiculous!
