help - window issues with new motor installation

Hi i was hoping someone could give me some advice

firstly, i have a 2003 V35 350GT skyline which has been imported from japan to australia. its essentially the same car as your G35.

now we are also plagued with window motor problems. previously i have been having issues with the window motor. it would sometimes not work and only when i bashed the inside of the door would it decide to work. apart rom that all the functions worked fine.

now, i decided to buy a new motor and bought one off jason at riverside infiniti through eBay. the motor arrived a while back and i instaleld it today.

i took off the trim, replaced the motor, did the reset procedure, then re-installed the trim.

the motor now works 100% of the time, but now the pinch system seems to not be working. i now find that the auto-up feature doesn't work (it hits the top and rolls down halfway) and the feature that rolls the window down 10mm when you open the door is also inactive.

its a brand new motor so unlikely that its a problem with that. is the regulator part of the motor? have i done something wrong with the installation?

obviously as its imported from japan i have no warranty which is why i am doing this myself... so taking it to a dealer is an absolute last resort.

any advice would be much appreciated!

regards,
Warren

ok i did the reset procedure again, but alas the procedure in the workshop manual is around the wrong way!

for everyone's reference, to reset the motor

- take the door trim off
- close the door and sit inside the car (the door needs to be closed as there is a sensor)
- peel back the black sticker about right in the middle of the door to reveal the reset button
- close the window completely
- press and hold the button
- open the window manually (using the first click not the second click)
- when the window has fully opened release the switch then release the button
- check that the auto-up now works!

thanks to jason for his help!

mods feel free to close this thread..

Thanks for the info. I have been putting this off for a few months now. With winter, who cares?

How difficult is it to take off the trim? I haven't even looked yet. Any other tips?
I am printing your reset procedure now. Also I am debating about getting a motor from Autozone w/lifetime warranty. Did you look into that before choosing infiniti part? I am definitely not taking to dealer also

taking off the door trim to get the the reset button was a 5 minute job, requiring only a 10mm ratchet and only 3 bolts to be removed!

getting to the motor however required about another 15 bolts to be removed, but only the 10mm ratchet and a 12mm head also for the final 2 bolts. still pretty easy but more time consuming.

re the price, well being in Australia i went for the most trusted option as i'm probably not going to get any warranty on parts when they are sent across the world!
