06 OEM Spoiler

Has anyone purchased the actual OEM spoiler and installed it yourself? I know the aftermarket spoilers come with t-strips to assist in lining it up so you know where to drill the holes. Just wanted to know if the actual factory spoiler comes with instructions and t-stripts or a template so that you know where to drill the holes?

SEARCH,.....first!

but to answer your question, a lot ob people have done this both with the 06-07 wing and the 03-05. Depending on where you get it from, it should have instructions and as I understand some blue painters tape can go a long way in making sure its dead center on your trunk.

Hit this link, it has a video, it's after market install guide for bolt on or tape on. I imagine the after market and OEM mounts the same as this one.

Just tried to take off my 06 OEM spoiler today to put on a carbon fiber OEM from 03-05 and it totally didn't work

Not sure if I should get a shop to do it now or find a wingless spoiler or what to do really. I'd really like to keep the IP trunk either way. Maybe paint a cf one.

I've seen the instructions for the aftermarket spoilers and they look pretty detailed, they even come with something that they call t-strips that help you know where to drill the holes. I was told by the guy at the body shop that the OEM ones dont come with any of that as they are mainly ordered as replacements for trunk lids that already have the holes drilled in them. He was trying to talk me into an aftermarket one saying that they would be easier to install. Just wanted to see if he was feeding me a line.

The OEM comes with a paper template that you position with some blue painters tape. As far as i can tell, the "kit" appears to be what the dealer would receive if they needed to put a OEM spoiler on a car delivered spoiler-less.

BTW: bolt and grommet holes are identical from '05 to '06, but it is quite a PITA to remove an old, factory/dealer installed spoiler.

Check out the link I posted above for ELITE SPOILERS.
Open the link and click the video on install. They go through the process and after seeing what is involved, I went with a pro body shop. I was to uneasy about drilling my car. They also have a vid for a tape on install.
