Roof overlay?

Has anyone bought this
If so how is it holding up? Hows the finish on it? And would you recommend it?

Its just that I am thinking about following the painted roof trend but this can be a cheaper alternative. I just dont want to have to repaint the roof if I ever trade it in later..

An overlay will look very good and be a lot less $ than painting it. I have overlays on all my door handles and they have been very resistant to scratches and fading over the last ~9 months.

I would think painting it would not be a DIY, wouldn't want to have a $40k sports car with a $200 roof job. Paint will be more expensive, more labor intensive and more prone to wear. Also, if your current paint is at all faded and you get a brand new, glossy (esp. w/ extra clear coat) top, it may not look like it matches. I would definitely go with the overlay. Less expensive, DIY (with a friend or two I'd imagine) and if it doesn't match, you've not invested much.

IMO I think you should buy this first and try and see what it looks like before you paint..its an easy solution and very in-expensive.

i had my roof painted before anyone ever came up with the idea of the overlay. If I had a choice now, I think i'd really consider the overlay. However, my only concern is how are they holding up against washing and waxing? I am able to wash and polish my roof to a top notch shine, I'd imagine you cant do the same with overlays.

Well I emailed Bluebat, see if he gets back to me. I think Im going to try it, just to see. I would paint my roof but I dont want to do it and not like it. Plus if I ever trade in the car I can just remove the overlay. If the overlay looks like **** and I am happy with the black rooftop then I will consider painting it...
