Insurance Claim? Help?
Insurance Claim? Help?
What's up guys.....well some of you might know that I had alittle bender on my car a while back. Not to bad of damage. I filed insurance claim and all that and have been fighting for a long time now to get my ride fixed. I finally got a guy coming down to write a check to fix my ride....i figure a great time to upgrade my parts, eh?? So i'm wanting the bodyshop to order me up a nismo front bumper and a gialla grille....and possibly a CF Seibon TS hood. The guys say they can get the nismo front no problem especially since they can order it from infiniti. Other two parts not so easy to write up on the bill....they need legitimate big companies and part numbers for this stuff. I really want to get this stuff cause I got like 3 grand for a estimate, any help? advice?
For those of you who dont remember the wreck, which has been some time ago then here is the link: https://g35driver.com/forums/general-media-share/159037-wrecked-g.html

3 GRAND FOR THOSE DAMAGES??!?!? I HIGHLY doubt insurance will even replace your bumper unless it cracked during the impact. For your grill, they will replace you a brand new one which runs about 2xx.xx I believe. Even if your bumper is cracked, they will only give you a refurbished bumper which runs about $170-$180. I think you'll get around 1 grand. Believe me .... if you add your own "finishing touches" then you'll get about 2 thousand something ... (if you catch my drift). Other than that .. plz don't get your body shop to get you a Nismo bumper from Infiniti if that's what they claim because the Nismo bumper for the g35 coupe is made in japan only and is not part of Nismo USA, therefore they cannot get it. So my suggestion is to buy the urethane Nismo replica ($460) from Klumzyee, the Gialla Replica Grill ($170 - fiberglass, $295 carbon fiber) from Ionic and Seibon CF hood ($4xx - $6xx) from Jim@Showstoppers. My point is ... your insurance is not going to pay that much unless there's more damage than what's visible, your body shop wont be able to order the parts that you want cheaper than the prices offered by the the vendors on this forum because they always add some money on top, and last of all, what I stated is WHAT I'VE EXPERIENCED w/ my 07 coupe.
they have already agreed to pay 2500 of the damages back....i just have to take it to the shop and begin the tear down so they can start replacing. Like I said I just need big legitimate companies and some part numbers I guess. So now i can't get nismo from infiniti i guess i better be thinkin of somethin else. any advice guys?
Let me preface this with the fact that I don't know SC auto insurance that well. That said, most of the time the insurer can just cut you a check for the amount they are willing to cover. It can be a pain in the sense that you now have to deal with paying the body shop directly, but OTOH you don't have to find part numbers. I would ask the claims adjuster if they can do this for you.

You should be able to find a shop that will get the parts you want. Since its your car you don't have to use the insurers shops, so you should look around. You may be able to cash settle with your insurer but its with a discount from what the body shop would get. I was an insurance adjuster and most don't care if you want to change parts, I'd call the adjuster and explain that you want to up grade parts and see what they are willing to do. Maybe they will give you the full cash or part of it and have you submit the bills for the parts and labour once the work is done and pay you the differance. hope that helps.

u can def just get a check in your name. ive (unfortunately) have had to do that a few times on other cars. but u can do the work yourself and save a TON of unecessary labor charges or u can take the check and buy your parts and bring it to whatever shop to do the work. thats def what it sounds like u need to do if u want all aftermarket stuff! good luck
