For those wondering if 2005-2006 bose radio works with 03-04 bose..............

IT WORKS.

many moons ago I hacked up my dash (which is still hacked lol) and put in the 05-06 radio in my 04 but the temp **** wasn't able to change the temperature. So if I wanted to change the temp, I'd have to put the 04 radio back. so I bought a 05-06 temp display and rewired it to the 04 specs and now everything works! I can change the temp! WOOT!

hacking up your interior is a different story. If you willing to hack this and that to put in the 05-06 radio with the display be my guest. i'm not responsible for your actions lol but it does work with our 03-04's. As most of you know our 03-04 radio sucks with the cd errf, burning out, eating CDs, left speaker not working, and the useless tape deck.

you'll probably ask why not go DD? because i don't want to. i like the stockish look.

my hacked up dash from ages ago hahah

Wow. You just are not afraid of challenges. Major props David. Does the 05-07 headunit plays MP3 as well? If so, thats a sweet bonus!

Hey Accordfreak I know this is a bump from the grave but I am hoping you can assist with some more info to this thread.

I am curious about whether you had to mod a DIY harness to connect the 05 bose unit to your 04 G or whether the connections/plugs were the same?

In other words, are the back connections of the 2003, 2004, and 2005+ headunits all the same? So I could use a 2005 bose h/u directly with my 2003 bose amp? Or would I need a 2005 bose amp, too?

Also, if my 03 had navi, would the 05 bose unit be able to work with the 03 navi? Does navigation connect to the headunit anywhere or does it just connect to the screen and nav controls? (Sorry, never had this stuff opened up to play with / look at)

I am not worried about the clock/temperature screen, just the amp part and navigation.

the 04-05 radios use the same plugs, bose and nonbose. The 05 non-bose will amplify the sound a lot more than the bose because it is not running off an amp. That in turn will make your navigation too loud so i would just use the 05 bose radio. I wanted to try the 05 amp but never got around to it because with the 05 bose radio, the base seems softer than the 04 radio.

Either way, you will have sound regardless.

FYI you won't be able to control your temp unless you use the 05 temp display which you will have to rewire.
