Not quite as cheap, but pretty close.

I read you were also talking about pulling your moldings as well right? Does that leave holes that need to be filled? Was he going to do that too? Dont feel bad. Be glad you asked questions.

In all honesty, I could barely comprehend what he wrote anyway. Waaaaay too much broken English.
$1500 was a bit cheap imho
like they say "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"
so i just made this thread to get opinons... u kno..

as for the sidemoldings no they dont leave holes.i believe

And that was kinda where I was going with that I was saying. Ive got several friends that paint for a living, and there is no way that that 1500 would even pay for their man hours. Let alone materials.

LoL, then again, we could all be wrong and this guy could be some prodigy painter guy that is trying to break out and get his name out there despite what the economy is doing to small business.

Well there is more to it then that. There are a bunch of good paint lines out there, but finding the right person to put it on your car is a different story. What your asking will be tricky because if you buy Dupont paint and then take it to a Martin Senior shop they wont know what to do with it. Different temp, sandpaper for prep, more or less air flow and thickness in aplication, ect. The worst thing is a painter can stand behind his for because he was trained how to spray that paint line. I can warrenty three different paint lines but if you give me Spies Hecker paint I would be guessing at what is the right way to spray it and if it fell off your car Spies Hecker would not stand behind it because I was not trained in how to use there paint line.

Ok im sorry I dident really answer your question. PPG has 5+ paint lines (Auto Color, Global, Deltron, Auqaubase Plus, Envirobase HP) They all work great if you know how to use that paint line. One paint line might be great for one thin but not another. I will help you find what your looking for but a couple thing that will help are these questions.

What are you looking for out off your paint job?
How long do you want it to last?
What are you looking to spend?
Is this for a DD or just a show or custom paint?

One thing you want to under stand is all the shops you go to should ask those questions. If they dont then there selling you the paint job they want you to have and not the one you want.

Yes I would just worry about finding a GOOD shop to go to and they will do the rest. I can name over 20+ paint lines that work great if done right. Feel free to pm me your zip and I can help you find a shop. But I will still need the answers to the questions.

Some people just want a cheap job because they are just trying to sell or trade, so they dont care how long it last. Some people want it to look great for shows and dont care if it does not hold up to bad weather, ect. Just a couple things to think about.

^Ok that all sounds good.

One thing about clear coat is you get what you pay for. I love adding more clear because it looks more "real" or "fresh" But three coats of cheap clear or one coat of the best will not be the same, the best clear will still hold up better. Clear coat $80-$600 so dont pay the shop for "more clear" but get better clear.

I will make a couple calls at work and post up what I can do for you after work. But if you are looking in the 3k area then you can every thing you want. One more thing I have to ask because I cant see the car is, why do you want it painted? Dents? Scratches? I ask because painting a car that is in good shape and one thats in bad shape are different. If the shop needs a day or to to fix stuff then your 3k went to 1-2k for the paint.

^i want to repaint my car
b/c theres 2 tone paint on the front
2 fenders..if you look at the front fenders
when theres alot of sun hitting it and you look
at an angle you can see the 2 tone paint..
and the rear passenger quater panel when you look
at it from an angle under direct sunlight you can see
2 tone paint...there is a couple of nicks and straches
but nothing serious..no dents at all..oh yea
and i took of my ugly side door molding in the winter(bad idea)
when i took off my molding it ripped the clearcoat off as well
so i had to rebuy new side moldings b/c of the shadow it left
when i took off the moldings
