Window Tinting discussion..pros/cons
Another pro not mentioned is that if you have a baby, it keeps the sun out of their eyes while they are sleeping.
It also helps the leather in your car to not crack so easily, less time between conditioning the leather.
If you have cloth interior, it doesn't fade the color.
Saves on the amount of A/C use because it keeps the car cooler.

well as i found this weekend, without tints its easier to see inside, therefore ppl will break in and steal stuff if they can see it.

actually I tint because if I didnt, I'd have ladies hitting me up at every stop light and it gets annoying. It's not fun to drive with panties and bras thrown at your face.
You should do everyone a favor and tint....your less than appetizing looks is really digusting your fellow drivers.....maybe you can just stop getting tested for STD's like every week and just save up for a tint.
I'm just playing. maybe.

Pros-
Makes cars look 100% better
Cooler in Summer
Privacy
Protects your skin and interior to some degree
Cons-
Cost
Night visibility
I've had tint on every car I or my wife have ever owned. Only regret is not going illegally darker on front windows.

Ive had darker than legal tint on every car that Ive owned since 1987. Ive never had an issue here in Florida, but I think it all depends on where you live. Some states dont enforce it as much as others.
I just got mine tinted this past Tuesday (5% on the back three windows and 20% on the front two ) and there is a big difference when it comes to the heat that accumulates inside the car, now it is much less than before. In other words, as many of you have mentioned bafore... the main pro is heat rejection. The only con, IMO, would be the visibility. However, it's just a matter of getting used to it

Tint today is more for performance for the most part. There are still the cheap run of the mill tint out there but a good shop uses good film.
Pros...
Heat Reduction
UV Protection
Safety.... Protection from broken glass in an accident and also helps keep the window together in the case of a broken window.
Less strain on the eyes in night and day.
Makes any car look better.
Cons...
There are no cons as long as you buy a quality film and do not go too dark. Anything darker then a 15% is stupid. 5% for example. No mater what others say its a safety hazard in anything but daylight. Its only good purpose is for limos and work vans. Looks ghetto too.
There are many different types of films out there. There are many cons with cheaper films and no cons with quality films. You get what you pay for.
Dyed films are junk and will turn blue or purple over time and keep out very little heat.
Carbon or lifetime warranty dyed films hold up well and will not effect reception but do not do much for heat reductions. Better then the cheap dyed films but still low compared to others.
Metalized / Hybrid films are usually pretty color stable and will keep out a good amount of heat. The down side is they will effect the reception in cars with antennas in the rear window like most new cars and all G's.
Ceramic films do a great job at keeping out heat while not needing to be darker to do so. They have a different look and do not effect reception.
IR films are pretty new still and do a good job at hear reduction and have no interference but only come in very light shades as of now.
Getting your windows tinted is the best way to protect the interior and keep out heat. Looks good and is a functional upgrade.

I got my windows tinted 3 days ago 15% all the way around and I love the way it looks. I really wanna get the front windshield tinted now too.
Pros:
Looks good, feels good.
Cons:
Cop trouble.
Other drivers can't see you when you give them the glare for driving retarded.

I've got 15 all the way around, 35 on the windshield
pros:
looks great
real stealth feeling (especially with a black interior, nobody can tell you're in there)
keeps the car cool (especially black leather!)
reduces UV to keep the interior in good shape
cons:
windshield tint is illegal (nobody in TN cares, but CA would be a different story)
in some places tinting the front side windows is illegal
front window tint will fail a yearly inspection for registration
night visibility reduced
