'04 Paint problems around the splash guards?

I'm looking at getting a coupe to park alongside my sedan, the car seems extremely well taken care of, but it looks like the paint is sorta peeling away around the splash guards.

Is this common with '04 with splash guards, all '04s, or is this one I should pass on?

That my friend looks like the car was repainted!! They didnt bother taking the splash guard off and just shot everythg. That should not be common as those splash guards are an add on! CARFAX!

He said it was from tapping a curb with the splash guard, the reason for the deformation at the bottom too.

Is there anywhere else to check for a dead giveaway repaint job? From what he'd told me, it's got the usual chips on the front and such, which I figure he would have had taken care of with this paint job, if it was a repaint.

i could see what hes saying, by tapping that against something it would push up the guard and scrape some paint away

I know you're more worried about what the paint being stripped right there might lend to the condition of this car, but I just wanted to add that touching up the paint in that spot would be extremely easy.

I was more wanting to know if this is common for '04s. The forum discussions on splashguards mostly revolve around "Love it or hate it" discussions.

I still think I'll hold out a while longer for a white one.
