That DIY is good, but I did a couple of things differently.
First of all it is not necessary to remove the whole door panel. I just pried it at one end where the mirror is, just so I have enough room to work.
Its was difficult to get the door panel to snap back into place at first, because I wasn't sure how it went on. What you have to do is pull it up at the very top so it snaps back into place.
Also, I wasn't sure how to de-pin the connectors, so what I did is cut the rubber pieces a little so connector fits through the hole and took those off. Then we masked off the mirrors when painting the mirror mounts.
Here is how we hung them.
