Problem with hood dampers
Problem with hood dampers
I tried to install my NRG hood dampers this weekend but ran into a problem. The dampers won't compress for anything. I watched the DIY, tried the cd spindle method. Putting all of my weight on them does not work. I even installed them on the car and *gently* tried to close the hood - these things are frozen solid. I don't want to smack them with a hammer for fear of bending them. If I had some Kroil I'd let them soak for a while, but I don't. I may try some CLP or other lube that I have sitting around, but I'm not sure if that would mess with the internals.
Any ideas?

i had the same problem and it ended up being me not using enought umph.
after i put all my body weight on it (only weight 165lbs), they compressed after a couple of times they got a lot smoother
be carefull when opening the hood, sometimes it gets misaligned and might rub on something, then just re-align it and you're good to go
