Re: HID Upgrade

i say probably the 8000. has a tint of blue in it. IN cali i think we will get caught if its too blue. If we didn't have a law then i would do the 13000 one!

Re: HID Upgrade

Just look at the bulb.... if it's got a blue tint on it, then the output will be lower than standard HID.

Re: HID Upgrade

I agree with nuttprof......I think the best all around is the 6500k.
The 8000 looks too blue and less output IMO......

Like afr0puff said, the best way would be to see the actual distance the light would project.....

I would like mine brighter/stronger........if that could be accomplished with a bluer bulb, that would be fine.....

Re: HID Upgrade

Definately #6500

Anything higher than that and it just looks like cheap $20 pepboy's superwhite halogen bulbs.

Re: HID Upgrade

Guys.. please don't get caught up in this.. I'm gonna paste a rant I had on b15sentra forums....

My lord.. people continue to Amaze me.
THERE ARE NO 7K+ HID kits... bejeezus! There are only 4x00/5x00 and now a Phillips 6x00 (expensive for those 6x00) bulbs People don't understand the laws of physics... the light spectrum.. the 4x00K gives THE MOST LIGHT. They are WHITE light.. the "supposed" blue/purple that these fake 7K+ bulbs try to sell(they tint the bulbs for the color) is the BMW/Audi style. What most people STILL don't understand is that those bulbs (real BMW & Audi) are ALSO 4x00 or 5x00 series.. its the PROJECTOR that refracts the light and outputs that color. Please.. don't get bought into the 7000K + hype.. its complete monkey crap. I KNOW what I'm talking about.. I used to have the Catz 4100K dual beam set on my B15 Sentra SE.

/end rant

By the way, if you'd really like to learn about HIDs from people who live by them.. visit the www.hidforum.com It's excellent reading and will help you guys get informed.

What about the Lexus IS300? Reflector headlights, purplish tint. Please explain that. Perhaps it came with the Philips 6000K HID bulbs from the factory?

I'm with out about there being no 7000K+ HID bulbs. They are, just like you say, regular HID bulbs with a blue tint or coating on it. They reduce the amount of light put on the road, but produce the blue color. However, the Philips 6000K bulbs are NOT TINTED, yet they produce the purplish look of BMW/Audi/Porsche/Lexus IS300/Honda S2000, etc.

Re: HID Upgrade

It's possible. I don't know enough about the IS.. but my rant on the Sentra forums were the kids wanting the BMW/Audi colored blue/purple... and it just frustrates me to see them paying that kinda money for tinted bulbs.

That's obvious, but I'd want to see how much light output is lost vs coolness factor.

I've got a set of 8000k bulbs & they're just as clear as the stock ones that I replaced.

Re: HID Upgrade

same here i just got 7000k Xtec bulbs put into my car and they were clear bulbs just like stock....they were not coated with anyhting....they are brighter and whiter with a blue hue than the stock so i dont know how 4500k is the brightest light you can have....the stock HIDs looked yellow comapred to my new 7000k ones....
