AUTO Shifter Removal FAIL

So today, I took apart my center console, to tweak something with the USA-Spec iPod connectivity device. Anyways, long story short, I was reassembling the unit, and I cannot get the last part back on. It seems like the silver piece (connected to the shifter) will not fit back in place. And also theres a plastic piece under the piece that seems to move with the shifter when you change gears.

Anyone have any advice? Perhaps my head unit wasn't 100% correctly bolted? Please give me some feedback. thanks

Take it back apart and make sure you put it back together again correctly? Make sure you stick the shifter through that plastic sliding piece.

yea i had the same problem....you just need to mess with it a bit. try putting the shifter in neutral and putting it back on from there.
