What is the difference between these two bulb types? Which one is better, and with the D2S fit on the G's?

 

The G35 has D2R. R is for reflection systems and S is for projection ones. I've read that the S will fit with minor modifications to the base of the bulb. If you use S, you will be very bright to oncoming traffic.

The D2R bulbs have an extra notch on the base. You can cut this notch in yourself if you get the D2S. I've learned about this at suvlights.com.
