Help, cant undo wire harness
 

I'm trying to remove the center console/shift boot top on my 07 5at. I cannot unclip the large wire harness to save my life, i've tried everythign and am afraid to break it, can anyone help?

I assume your refering to that large white one attached to the shift surround? If so, you're right, that sucker is big and in there good (thats what she said). Little trick is to mash that white tab in with a screwdriver (releasing mechanism) while at the same time using another small screwdriver to wedge in and twist to pry the two apart. Takes patience and sum skill but not that hard.

Oh man its been a while, I wanna say just strait in and you'll be fine, its not a complicated mechanism, just a plastic tab keeping them together. You can press the tab in and shimmy the plug apart a little at a time with the twisting screwdriver technique, switching sides to get more leverage if need be. Be patient, that's one of the tougher plugs.
