Why doesn't anyone paint carbon fiber?
Why doesn't anyone paint carbon fiber?
So why doesn't anyone paint carbon fiber? Can it not be done? Or do people just like the look of black carbon fiber hoods that much?
Just curious.

Re: Why doesn't anyone paint carbon fiber?
To answer your question. Yes it can be done you just have to find a shop that will do it. My brother had it done on his hood. I wouldnt paint the whole hood kinda a waste of money to pay for the carbon fiber and paint it. Most people do the v shape or go with the body lines on the hood to paint sections of it .
Re: Why doesn't anyone paint carbon fiber?
Hi:
Good question. I guess that Carbon Fiber is paintable because many of the formula race cars use it and they are painted. It might take special preparation. It might need some kind of flex coat to avoid stress cracks.
Some people want to show off the Carbon Fiber look, so that seems to be why many do not paint it.

I think the only way to go is to paint it! I wouldnt paint it all though, I would two tone it. To be a carbon hood on a car just doesnt look finished!
