Ionic eye lids diy!!
hey again guys well when i was lurking around the forums and looking at ionics eyelids all i could find on how to install them was use heavy duty dbble-sided tape. so it might be a simple thing to do but as a fellow noob i thought id do my own little DIY the best way i could figure out to do it.
alright so your going to need windex, paper towels, 3m heavy duty double sided tape (home depot) and ionics eyelids (color matched to your vehicle and a G35
1. buy a g35 or else your not cool...
2. have a covered area to work in

3. clean of all the bird **** and dirt from your sexy head lamps with windex and paper towels

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5183825_n.jpg
4. clean off you eyelids getting all the dust of the bottom part (so that it will stick as tight as possible)
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5646526_n.jpg
5. before applying the double sided tape try fitting them on the headlights and see how you are going to align them with the hood panel (so that you dont have unwanted gaps)
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1154611_n.jpg
6. measure the inside of the eyelids and cut out that piece of tape and stick it to the inner part of the eyelid ( make sure it doesn't go over the edges making it exposed to the outside. Note you cant tape the whole length of the eyelid but i will address this next.

7. now carefully align the eyelids with the light after you pull off the other side of the tape ( to get the sticky side) Note: don't worry if you don't align it perfectly the first few times you can re-stick it without changing the tape.

8. now the eyelids are securely on the car but you might notice that the corners are sticking up a little bit. well i have a solution to fix that. cut little thin pieces of the tape that you have and them under the corners making sure that you don't expose them to the outside also. this will give you the flush looking factory looking piece
Now the finished product:

i hope this may of helped some people and you guys liked the DIY please correct me if i did anything wrong
all pictures are off of a iphone 4
good luck with your install guys

When I first installed my Ionic eye lids on my '04 headlights I loaded them up with 3M double sided adhesive....mistake! After talking to Jose at Ionic I discovered that just applying the adhesive to the tips about 2" back would work better....and it does! Carefully removing them from my old headlights and installing them on my new projectors I did exactly that just 2" back on each side, they're not going anywhere....perfect!

Awesome look, i love it.
Thanks for the DIY, i used the scotch double sized heavy duty mounting tape you pictured but i had to double it up for it to really reach the surface of the light.... feels like a super dumb question but do you guys think i'll have any problems with the mounting tape sticking to itself? feels like it's on there pretty good.

you can use a hair dryer to heat up the tape before u stick it to the next layer. When the tape is warm, it seems to stick better.
