headlight troubles
After buying new bulbs from a vendor on the board, I have experienced a little trouble.
The passenger side bulb is dimmer than the driverside.
AND when I turn the headlights off and on again the passenger headlight will make a 'click click click' noise and the bulb doesn't illuminate at all.
After multiple times on and off it will turn on again, but dim still.
ANY IDEAS?!?!?
The vendor has offered to replace the bulbs, but he wants both the bulbs back at once, and I neeeeeed the car at night!!

I had an issue with my passenger headlight as well. Symptoms were every so often the light would not turn on. After a few bangs with my palm to the headlight housing it would turn back on until finally one day it wouldn't turn on at all. I have an 03 g35 cpe with 06 headlights with 10k hid's using the stock ballast. My first thing I did was check to see if it was the bulb. I switched it with the drivers side headlight and it turned on fine, both bulbs were working which meant the problem was the ballast. I took the ballast apart and pried it open with a small set of pliers. All the electronics are covered in a think black silicon material that I had to dig through to get to the connecters. Once I got most of it off (only the area covering the connecter about a 1cm x 1cm area) I noticed that a pin wasn't completely making contact with a small pin below it. I soldered it together and put it back together and viola! It worked and has been on since. This may or may not be the problem with yours but its a possibility and worth checking out

i will jump into that project soon. I would have to assume it is the headlight and not the bulb because i did not have this problem with the original philips bulbs.
I also have an 03 coupe and upgraded to the newer headlights...
Is there a headlight take apart diy on the board?
Thanks for your help titan

this is a tough situation, what i did before was I took the ballast apart and pried it open with a small set of pliers. All the electronics are covered in a think black silicon material that I had to dig through to get to the connecters. But in the end i bought a new set of headlight bulbs instead of waiting.

I also have this problem...only both sides. I bought the car with aftermarket headlights, not sure if the ballasts are oem or not. I know my HID bulbs are probably cheap aftermarkets since there isn't any names or valid part numbers on the bulbs themselves.
My symptoms are slightly different though and only after the headlights have been on for more than a few minutes. If I turn them off, they simply don't turn back on. If I switch them off and on several times, usually one side will turn on, but sometimes both will. They also will get out of sync...e.g. left side will turn on, but not the right, switch off and on again, now the left side stays off, but the right side turns on.
My best guess is that is has something to do with heat. If I turn them both off for a while and let them cool down, they will both turn on.
Does anyone know if cheap HID bulbs are prone to this kind of behavior? The only other conclusion I came to is if the ballasts are poorly grounded it could be causing issues.
Thanks for the help.

Checked the fuse box to make sure a fuse hadnt blown as well and still nothing..Two days later I turned my light on and it worked..two days later it stopped and hasnt come back on since? Is this a ballast issue? Can I buy an aftermarket HID kit and install that? HELP!!!
