Questions about paiting the lower black trim
Questions about paiting the lower black trim
This is a question for people who had painted their lower black trim to match the body color...
I am very interested to paint the lower black trims, but I would like to have an idea of how much a good paint job would cost? And also, what's the complexity of the work? Finally, I have also heard of people saying that the material of the trim makes it hard for the paint to stay on the trim, which means that the paint can be scratched or flakes off easily if some certain additional procedures were not done properly by a paint expert...
But having the trim in bodycolor is just too sweet to resist, and the nismo body kit is simply too expensive for my budget...
Thank you for sharing...

Re: Questions about paiting the lower black trim
Mine cost $700 USD. I have heard other amounts from $400 to $500.
I wouldn't worry about chipping any more than the other plastic parts on your car as long as the plastic sills are prepped properly before painting. When you are evaluating a painter, ask them what their prep process is. The painter should mention chemical substances like Bulldog.
Oh, and the front bumper seems to take the color differently than the other plastic parts. Mine seems slightly more yellowish.
Lastly, have them remove the side sills (including the one behind the rear wheels). They easily slide off after removing a few screws. I also didn't paint the perpindicular lip hanging down underneath the front in case of scrapes. Pictures of my car are in the rides section.
Best wishes!
