spoiler install question

has anyone installed a spoiler (or any other external kit) which uses only 3m adhesive tape? how secure is the install? wouldn't it just fall off after being exposed to the weather after a year or so?

Re: spoiler install question

3m tape is good for small stuffs like badges, body side moldings.
even small lips but for spoilers you really need atleast two additional screws to hold it down.if the spoiler flip off on the freeway, that could kill somebody.

i like to say that it would hold.but because that lip will catch alot of wind due to the aerodynamic of the car body contour,i would use screws myself.

Re: spoiler install question

I was looking into buying the impul rear lip spoiler and when I asked about the install, the guys at MOB Works and Amatos (SoCal) told me that there were no screws required and only 3m double sided tape needed. They made me more worried about the difficulty in taking it off later in case I changed my mind and wanted a different look. They told me it would take a lot of effort (and a heat gun) to remove and without experience you could f up your paint. Bottom line the strong 3M adhesive is plenty strong enough. Go for it!
