fitting the bottom of a poly bumper...
ok, i have a nismo poly i'm trying to fit. i've got the sides done.
i have to push the front of the bumper back about an inch or so to make it meet up with the under tray, should i do that and fasten it? or will the constant "tension" pull the fasteners out and/or make my paint come off at some point? or should i make an extension piece?
also, there are some areas where the under tray doesn't meet the bumper at all. basically the area under the ducts has no flange and then it meets back up with the under tray on the corners. should i make some aluminum plates to go under there? or will the big section in the front and corner mounting to the under tray be enough?
i will try to post some pictures in a while.
last thing, could i just pop rivet the bumper to the under tray? i mean, i realize i will have to drill them out if i want to take the bumper off, but if i only put 8 or 10 of them in, it should be ok, you think?

=( oh noo you got the nismo that doesn't fit the undertray.. we've made many versions of the nismo and have been offering the nismo with undertray 100% fitment for years now however there are still vendors selling the cheaper nismo that does not fit the undertray =(
see the difference:

Oh the top is our NISMOv3 Bumper on the bottom is a bumper that does not fit the undertray =( see how it is lacking material.
Your best bet for a fix is to get a sheet metal piece and use that as an "undertray"-extension. so attach that to the bumper and the other part to the undertray. Or else the wind may push the undertray down while you're driving and you may end up loosing your undertray =(

thanks. i got the bumper for 150, local in INDIANA...so it is as good as i can do. and a little TLC and i think it should be good to go.
your nismo v3 looks way better and a lot more finished though. for your sidemarkers how are those cut out? i had to dremel mine out.

Ah too bad! We only sell the nismo that fits the undertrayd now since the original mold maker re-did his mold for all distributors to sell.... Can't wait to see it finished
well...the ol' indiana boy made'r fit! i only had to push that big flange back about 3/4 of an inch and it overlapped the under tray. drilled some holes (easier said than done) and put some quarter inch stainless screws into some speed nuts and it's practically factory!...kinda...not really...
but the thing is, it's gonna mount on the corners and that whole center flange is mounted to undertray. so....i think i might skip the sheet metal extensions and see how it does. those will be a LOT of work.
i gotta get some of those poly drive-on ramps so i can fit my DSLR under so i can take some pictures.
only thing i worry about is forcing the flex after it's been painted, hope the paint won't crack..........even with the flex agent, i worry.

now let me ask you peoples a question...
i was just kicking it around, but what if i didn't mount the bumper to the under tray and only mounted it on the corners? and then used some all thread and some aluminum and some how mounted the under tray to something else?
but then i worry about if i went on any long road trips i wouldn't want my bumper "flappin in the wind"
i think what i have is best....but just kickin it around.

^^^if you look up against the bumper core, you can see my one speed nut, then above it is the empty hole from the OEM bumper/undertray mount.

^^^here's what it looks like from underneath. this is the passenger side of that flange. i have it up against the little air dam that mounts to the undertray. i plan on putting washers under those screws.

^^^this is the gap. but the corner isn't mounted yet, so it will be even narrower.

^^^it's a little wavy underneath, but you can't see it from the front. there are a total of 4 or 5 of mounting screws.

she's gettin there...
For the nismo are you suppose to mount the bumper tabs under the tray or over the tray? I tried to use the factory metal clip ons that you screw Into however since the material of the poly is thicker I'm having troubles sliding them onto the poly. Any ideas what to do to screw the tray and bumper together?
