Question OEM Style Spoiler Install - Would this work?

I have a few ideas about mounting the OEM style spoiler I just bought. I'm looking for some input on what others may think.

There are three bolt holes in the mid section of the spoiler and 2 on each side. The three holes in the mid section do not have the trunks under skin and would be very easy to drill and mount. I would have to drill another hole for the 3rd brake light, but that is in an easily accessible area as well. I would like to only drill out the 4 holes in the midsection. If I were to drill the side holes then I have to drill even bigger holes in the underside skin to fit the bolts through.

If I only drill the 4 holes, then, I was thinking I could peel off the foam on the sides of the spoiler and add some 3M double-sided foam tape in its place.

Amazon Amazon

So, here is where I need some opinions.

Do I:

1. Drill all 8 holes in the trunk and also drill large holes in the under skin.

2. Drill just the 4 holes and add some double sided tape to the outer portions

Thanks guys!

as long as you get those 3 bolts in the middle and add some good 3m, i see no reason that it wouldnt work just fine.

When I installed mine I drilled out all the holes and also the holes underneath the trunk lid... I had to drill out large portions of the inside trunklid to make it fit. I then just fiber-glassed it and painted it and it looked brand new again. It was def alot of work. If i was in your shoes I would just drill the middle holes and 3M the sides.. That 3M tape is magical and should do the job.

Thanks for the input. I'll go with the 3M on the sides. I read in a thread someone said there is a connector for the 3rd brake light somewhere near the boot? Anyone know where this is? This would be easier than fishing wires through the boot and connecting to existing 3rd brake light.
