Question Installing Fog Light Bulbs....

Hi everyone,

Just bought a pair of Silverstars for my weak stock fog light bulbs....
I was wondering if there was anything special on the installation i should know about....do I have to remove any type of shield?

Thanks.

Either take your front wheel off or turn it hard to one side. Pop out those little plastic rivet things holding in the wheel well liner. I don't think you need to take them all off. You will have access to the headlamp assembly from there. Take out fog bulb and replace. Not really that hard.

Don't remember where I got this from but.....

REPLACING HIGH BEAM/FOG LIGHT BULBS & CLEARANCE LIGHT BULBS

Tools: jack and jack tools, small straight slot screwdriver, medium Phillips screwdriver, socket wrench with 10mm socket, latex gloves, flashlight or light source.

High Beams/Fog Lights-HB2, 9003, H-4 Bulb
1. Remove wheel. Make sure the parking brake is ON and there are blocks behind the rear wheels to prevent rolling.
2. Remove (5) plastic push bolts by popping out the head with the straight slot screwdriver.
3. Remove (5) metal bolts located underneath the bumper using the socket wrench. The Phillips screwdriver will work if you don’t have the socket wrench.
4. Remove (1) Phillips head screw at the top of the wheel well near the side marker light.
5. Pull the plastic shield out revealing the back of the headlight housing. The shield will be hanging from a couple of tabs at the bottom, but it is not necessary to completely remove it. You will have plenty of room to work.
6. Unseat the lower dust cover by twisting to the left.
7. Remove the wiring by wiggling gently and pulling straight back.
8. You will see a metal spring loaded clip that keeps the bulb in place. Pinch this clip and pull down. The clip will swing down but stay secured. You do not need to completely remove the clip. The bulb can now be easily removed. Do not touch the bulb glass with your bare skin, use latex gloves to handle the bulb or only touch the metal areas.
9. Install replacement bulb. Again, do not touch the bulb.
10. Re-install the spring clip, re-install dust cover.
11. Make sure the bulb works before replacing the plastic shield.

Clearance Lights-168 Bulb
1. To the upper right of the lower dust cover you will see a long, black, plastic tab. You may need to use a flashlight to see it. Unseat this by turning to the left a quarter turn, and then pull back. You will see the clearance bulb at the end of the part you just removed.
2. This is a wedge type bulb, so remove it by pulling it straight out.
3. Install replacement bulb (do not touch with bare skin).
4. Turn on you parking lights to make sure the bulb works.
5. Re-install the clearance light housing by inserting it into the hole and turning to the right.
6. Re-install the plastic shield. Make sure that it is tucked under the bottom lip of the bumper and the holes all line up.
7. Make sure the top clip near the side marker light (Phillips screw) is seated correctly. Replace the Phillips screw.
8. Replace the (5) plastic push bolts, the head must be popped out to insert in each hole. Pop the head in after the bolt is inserted.
9. Replace the (5) metal bolts, don’t over tighten.
10. Replace the wheel.

Note: I used Osram-Sylvania Silver Star bulbs (#9003 ST/2) for the high beam/fog lights and PIAA Xtreme White bulbs (#PIA-19172) for the clearance lights. PIAA also makes replacement bulbs for reverse lights, license plate light, trunk light, front dome lights and rear dome lights (see Bulb Replacement Guide)

Silver Star available at Kragen/Checker/Schucks Auto Parts. http://www.cskauto.com/
PIAA Xtreme White available at Options Auto Salon. http://www.optauto.com/webstore/
