Removing Paint Off Interior Pieces

Painted my center console black (used acrylic lacquer) and I'm looking to remove the gloss paint so I can do a flat black finish instead (gloss black is too much of an eye sore). I've done my research and I've read yes to brake fluid, then no to brake fluid, then Fairy spray, then acetone, and a bunch of other contradicting posts so I'm coming to you guys for advice. I don't want to ruin the console obviously.

Why not this? Why do you have to strip it?

You are already have paint that has adhered to the surface, why introduce a possible bonding issue?

Im being lazy and looking for the easiest way out. Sanding requires a lot of time. But if it has the possibility of giving me a bonding issue then its not even worth it

You don't have to sand it down to the original material. Just scuff it with light grit paper, prime and paint. It doesn't have to be an all day affair.
