Coupe Nismo Bumper / Side Skirt Fiberglass Repair

I have a Nismo front bumper (authentic) as well as a set of the side skirts (authentic as well).

The front one is slightly cracked, the right side skirt has a worn out part about 2" wide. Many body shops have told me this is easy to repair and will cost very little. They keep stating after you repair it, it'll be like new and that fiberglass "likes to be repaired". Any thoughts on this? Any experience?

First of all i know the Authentic Nismo bumper is not really fiberglass. I know its a stonger material like fiberglass.

As for repairing it the way they said, i have no idea.

Can you take a picture of the cracks? Minor cracking is normal. At least that's what my body shop said. They've seen umpteen Nismo parts. As long as its not spider-cracking on the inside, they said it's not a problem and won't become a problem in the future.

I have the authentic nismo bumper also, and it had minor cracking in certain areas. It was shipped from the factory in japan like that after it passed quality control. They do a quick patch job on it, so bodyshops are able to thoroughly fix the problem areas.

Do the NIsmo sideskirts sit lower than the OEM ones? I'm wanting to mate these up with my INgs front lip.

Yeah, it's not actually fiberglass per say. It's called frp or something like that. But that stands for fiberglass reinforced plastic. Basically it's the same stuff they make small boats or buoys out of.

I have pictures of the cracks. Here....

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the feedback and the second opinion. I really hope it's easy, it's what all the body shops kept teling me. I just wasn't sure if they were trying to win over a job or if it really was.

Well, in that case, I just put up the items on ebay! I hope they'll do well. If you guys are interested, please feel free to visit ebay and do a search for "G35 coupe nismo".

Thanks guys.

I thought all the nismo kits came painted?

Also, Nismo kits are urethane, not fiberglass or FRP. I can attest to this, since I own the sedan kit and my wife loves using it as a parking feeler.

Not for the coupe. It's "fiberglass."

I let out a sigh of relief when afr0puff mentioned the cracking was normal... ...prior to paint/install. lol Had me rethinking my build-plan for about 20 anxiety-filled minutes. >.<

Damn - those are authentic? Because my replica front bumper looked WAY better than that! I'm definitely interested in those side skirts though...

Thanks for the interst in the side skirts. It's funny, because no one is really offering them, but so many people are interested.

I would have figured if it was high in demand that more stores would be offering them.

And just to disclose everything, becuase someone asked, these are not new parts. They came off of my G. And the front and right side skirt has some cracks and scracthes in them.

On a side note, I'm actually surprised the rear bumper isn't doing as well as the front bumper. The impul is made of polyurethane, the orignal material the stock bumper is made of. And it's much more rare and much more expensive. Go figure. :-)

Thanks again guys.
