Gauges for an NA Car???

I would like to talk about adding gauges to an NA car........

what kinds of gauges?
who is the best or quality manufacturer?
where to mount them?
type of sensors?
how to install?
good idea or not?

i was thinking of water temp, engine oil pressure and transmission oil temperature.........i have seen the 3 gauge A pillar mod and think this would be a cool looking mod and a good idea to manage the engine with real information.........comments?

Ehh, i dunno if you would really need them on an NA car. Maybe oil temp or if you have done some extensive n/a mods you can try an air flow computer. If its for cosmetics, go for it.

I have had the guage pod sitting in my car for 3 months and am also pondering guage selection. I want it too look just like the oem instrument panel. Black BG with orange (?)

oil pressure and ammeter gauges would be nice to have. its definitely not for cosmetics, old cars normally have them stock.

Check out Defi BF guages. They are sexy guages. There a bit on the pricey side but its worth it.

+1 on the oil pressure.. i'm still wondering why thats not a stock gauge..
A&F is a gauge just to have a gauge.. u can watch the needle bounce around
last IMO the digital gauge on the Z is pretty cool

dayum.........gauges are expensive on www.i-m-racing.com !!!!!!!!!! 3 Defi 52 mm D-Gauges......2 temperature (water and transmission) and 1 pressure (oil) will cost $425 and i havent figured out if that includes the sensors or not......

how about some pics of gauge installs?????? i was thinking of the 3 gauge pod (see attached) but have seen them in the upper glove box as well....i would like the install to look "factory" and not home made......

Since you asked if it's a good idea or not...

I say not. The car is fine from the factory with no extra gauges needed to keep a eye on the car. IMO, it's pretty dumb to be putting a bunch of gauges in the car that you dont need. Maybe if you did need gauges (if someone went FI) and then decided to go alittle crazy and add some extra gauges then that might be ok. I wouldnt just start putting in gauges for the heck of it. Money can be spent elsewhere and people wont laugh at you. I remember when I worked at a shop and this kid would come in every other week and buy a different gauge for his NA accord...this week he wants a vacuum gauge and next week he'd want a water temp gauge...

if its placed subtly, i think its good, although i can't imagine right now where to put these on the G. like i said, some of these gauges (oil press, ammeter, etc) come stock in other cars (my old celica GT had these). although imo, i wouldnt put non-FI related gauges on the A-pillar.

My beater S10 Pickup has a voltmeter and and oil pressure gauge, as does the 350Z. Certainly they should have come the "G". I would love to have any easy way to add them to my coupe along with an ammeter and an oil temperature gauge.

I would like oil pressure and tranny temp gauges. I feel the oil pressure gauge is a critical one that should be in every car.

defi is way tooo expensive IMHO. Go with autometer, greddy, hks, apexi, etc..

I order 3 gauges as well from autometer. Got them from ebay for 100 all of them brand new.

I got oil pressure, oil temperature and air/fuel ratio.

Now all i need is a pod and im set for the install.
