De-Badging Question

I have a 'brand new' Ivory Pearl G sedan (as of last Thursday). I just removed the G35 emblem, clay barred the area and waxed that small area. I can still see an outline of the G35 because the paint is actually lighter under the G35. Has anyone else experienced this? Does this fade over time to be more blended as the paint gets more exposure to light?

I really want to remove the Infiniti letters also, but will not if the paint is going to be a different shade...Any thoughts/experience on this?

Thanks!

Re: De-Badging Question

How long did your car sit in the burning sun before you rescued it? The paint should start to blend in month or so.

Re: De-Badging Question

Good question! I'm not really sure. I think the car had just recently arrived at the dealer, so I don't think for very long. I'll have to find out....thanks for input.

Re: De-Badging Question

thats odd dude, i debadged mine as soon as i got it home from the dealership lol
No lettering shadow was present.
Just be careful not to rub too hard as you may scratch the paint
your car is only 3 months old and the paint should not fade that quickly.....i dont know what else to tell you dude

Re: De-Badging Question

You may have glue residue - try goof-off!!
It worked perfectly for me - In fact I just did it today but I've had the car since Thanksgiving - That's over 6 months later.
Good Luck!

Re: De-Badging Question

Forgive my ignorance, but why? I have not not done much for mods since high school days (quite a while ago) so I'm a bit out of it, but this one really eludes me. The G35 I was going to buy before I changed my mind to another one, was missing the G35 badge and it really bothered me. Is this done for mystery or what? Thanks.

Re: De-Badging Question

Why? For me, I removed the word "Infiniti" from the trunk because it got in the way of polishing the car.

Yeah, I found that when I polished my father-in-laws I30, his spoiler gets in the way as well. That's why I got my G without!

Re: De-Badging Question

I debadged my sedan and I think it looks cleaner, and is definitely easier to wax. I removed the lettering and kept Mt. Fuji.
I used WD40 to get off the tough adhesive.

Re: De-Badging Question

I had this problem... I used ALCOHOL and it left a fat white cloud.. so they immediately rushed me to the hospital cause my heart stopped.. no but seriously... dont touch it... if you can find someone with a buffer and tell them to buff it out with a machine and it shines right out and looks beautiful...

Re: De-Badging Question

Wipe some goo-gone on there and let it sit for about a minute, then wipe it off.. you'll still see a little bit, but if you buff it, it'll be gone when you're done.

Re: De-Badging Question

Does anyone think I will have problems debadging a black coupe 1.5 yrs old? I wax it just about every other week, so hopefully fading has been minimized. Has anyone done it to a Black G after a year or so!

Re: De-Badging Question

My G never really sits in the sun. At school / my old job it was covered. For about a year everday I worked about 4 days a week it was in the sun. Otherwise it's either in my Garage or in the schools parking garage out of the sun.

Thanks - Joey Avino
