Removed Side Molding... PICS <update>

Guys, anyone have the side molding from the dealer on their G? More importantly anyone take it off? I'm curious, since it is an add on, is it just double sided taped on? Can a heat gun and some buffing take it off, or does a body shop need to do it since paint will be needed?

I tried removing mine once, but its bolted in there. If you want to remove it...big pain in the @$$...cuz the shop is gonna have to bondo up the holes and repaint everything. Dont even bother...not worth the money

Bolted in there? What the hell.

This was the first thing i did when i got my car. Mine was attached with double-sided tape. I just used dental floss to remove it a bit and then you can pretty much just pull it off gradually.

It's pretty simple. The biggest pain in the *** was removing all the double-sided tape from the car door. It took me a good couple hours that resulted in a two severly sore thumbs afterwards but all was worth it haha.

I used a product called Goof-Off and microfiber towel.

This is a must in my opinion though. The side moldings are HIDEOUS and really take away from the lines of the G35.

Ok, so not sure what the deal is then. I'm guessing it just comes off. I will take a look at it some more. I'll try the dental floss, hair dryer, and goo gone technique.

The sedan molding is clipped into the body. If the molding is removed, there will be holes in the door panels.

I'm talking about the molding strip I have that goes across the side of my car (door back towards rear wheel well). I have a coupe. Here is a pic...

Not sure where it would clip in or screw in. Seems like it is just double sided taped.

Gotcha. Did you buy the car used. That is an aftermarket mod right? Have you contacted the dealer and asked them how it is put on, how you can get it off? Good Luck.

PS If you can't get it off, don't sweat it. I think I prefer it without, but it does not look bad.

Didnt you ever learn that if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all. Sorry but I think there are a lot of IP drivers on here that would disagree with your statement of girls car. I don't know many chicks on here with a 6MT who have already done a DD conversion on their own. Next, how in the world does it announce you are a bad driver? I can't stand people making stupid comments like this. Brings everything on this board down.

So now for everyone else....

Yes I bought it new, and it is double sided taped on there on the coupes. I already took it off, and I debadged the back, just leaving the Infiniti symbol. Looks way better. Though my car is dirty, I will attach a couple quick pictures I just took.

As far as removal goes, i didnt even really need the goo gone. The microfiber towel took the stuff right off. Was really easy! I used floss to go under the badges to pop them off, then rubbed away the left over tape.

So far in two months of ownership I've debadged, pulled off side molding, installed an aftermarket premium rearview mirror (since I didn't get premium package), installed the double din Pioneer AVIC-D1, got it tinted.

I still need to install my PAC SWI-PS. Maybe I will do that next weekend. Next, I'm taking my wheels to a wheel shop to have the lips polished and spokes painted glossy black. Then I'll be putting on my suspension. One step at a time! Nothing better than installing everything yourself though!

I wouldnt mind finding some tinted taillight covers though. That and I need to get the tinted sidemarker lights. A pearl black Infiniti emblem would go well with that on the rear I think.
