Anodizing belt-strip-molding?...
Does anyone know if the belt strip molding (lower exterior window molding) can be anodized? Will the molded rubber hold up?
I have been on a quest to "black-out" all the chromed aluminum trim including door handles but the damn molded rubber strip has delayed this project immensely! All other trim is going to be powder coated... I considered having the belt strip painted, but the edge of the rubber creates problems (paint layer may end up above rubber strip edge causing peeling, and adhesion factors).
It has been suggested to use Bull Dog primer and SEC Black Trim paint; I may do that but am still considering anodizing. I'm trying to get some scrap belt strip molding to test, but so far having had any luck.
Anyone have insight on the anodizing idea?
