HEAT GUN, DON'T BAKE!!!!
I've seen a lot of theads here lately w/ people asking backing to open up the lights. THIS IS NOT THE BEST, EASIEST OR SAFEST!!!!
Use a heat gun! Work your way around slowly, remove the screws and SLOWLY pull the lense off the backing!!!!

+1 Wrah would you be able to do a nice write up on how to actually do this! I have to switch lens on a headlight and would love to know. Also, what sealer do you buy from Nissan to reseal?
I'd be more than happy to write up a DIY, but you going to have to wait 2 weeks. & I don't think you really need it.
-1st remove all the screws
-You never aim the gun at the clear plastic, always on the seam of the glue.
-Wear gloves, it can get hot.
-Keep the gun moving, you will see the glue heat up.
-I started on the top point of our lights, worked down around the inside(the side facing the emblem)
-Use a small flat-head screw driver and slide it down seperating the glue. Don't pull/wedge the screwdriver till you have worked around the entire light.
-You can then slowly start to pull it apart.
-DO EVERYTHING SLOW!!! LISTEN FOR STRESS!!! You don't want to break anything and you and feel/hear if you are over stressing the lamps!

I just use super clear silicone sealant. It dries crystal clear, so it looks really clean afterwards. I'm thinking about doing a black housing, so I might even use black silicone sealant.
If the sealant pictured above is what Nissan actually uses... the diffrence is that can be heated and re-opened for future mods. I dont think silicone will want to be opened even if its heated.

I receoved my used headlight yesrday which is the one I need to remove the lens on. I thought just the clear part comes off but it looks different.
I see a black plastic trim piece with lil tabs I assume you set relaeas to get to where you have to heat and remove the lens. Does anyone have a picture of where exactly you heat and remove the clear lens from?

Does anyone have a pic of where you actually pry the lens from the housing? I only looked the the light I got for a second, but it seemes as though there were little tabs that needed to be removed first. I guess once thsoe are removed, I'll be able to figure out where to heat it?
