Unhappy OEM front lip installed Sunday...... Cracked on Tuesday

After much anticipation, I installed my OEM front lip on Sunday. I'm driving home last night & the car in front of me runs over part of a tire & throws it up at me. I tried to swerve but it still caught my front corner. I get out to look at it and not only is there a big scratch but it also cracked my newly installed front lip.

I guess the urethane parts aren't as durable as everyone thinks they are, which I already knew.

Sorry to hear about that man, I just cracked my bumper as well, but it's fiberglass so I should be able to repair it nicely.

hutch, damn that sucks, you just had it on for not even a week, i wouldnt think that the OEM lip can crack since its urethane, guess urethane isn't as durable as most people think...

i feel your pain though...

Just about anything short of steel will break when hit at 75mph. I've rubbed the lip twice on pavement while pulling out of steep driveways with no problems.

unfortunately it hit on the outer edge, which is the widest part. If it would have hit in the center it probably would not have cracked.

How funny. The exact same thing happened to me except it wasnt a piece of a tire that hit me. The car in front of me flipped up what looked to be a steel pipe of some sort. Thank God it didnt hit the hood or lights. It caught the front passenger side bumper part, cracking it.

The paint up there now has spider veins in it and the botton air diffusuer that hangs down is sagging on one side. I was so pissed.

Whats the point of spending all this money on a car when it all goes to crap anyway?

Angry

Same thing happened to me , i was driving behind a truck and an object flew out of the bottom of it. I dont know if it was already on the streets or if it was the actuall truck. All i know when i pulled over to see if there was any damage, my front lip was completly scratched on the drivers side.

Yeah, I've had to replace the plastic underbody and the front bumper, from 2 different events like this...I think I've finally learned my lesson about safe following distances.

While you're tailgating you can still stop safely in time to not hit the car in front of you when they brake suddenly, but when the car in front of you propells something back at you, or straddles something sitting still in the middle of the road, you need more time to react safely. Especially when your car is freaking millimeters off the ground.

If only I listened back in those high school driver's ed classes...

Sorry to hear that man, that sucks big time. I know how it feels since I ripped mine off in two pieces after pulling out of a parking spot and having the damn thing caught over one of those cement stoppers
