Question Noob Question...(Lights and mo' Lights)

I just got my 2004 G35c this week and have a question regarding how to alter the light setup on the headlights from Low Beam & Fogs to just Low Beam w/o Fogs?

Unfortunetly the car didn't come with its manual so I havent been able to consult that yet. I'm aware of the main light switch is on the arm left of the steering wheel and I'm pretty sure that the switch just to the right of the dial on the same arm that have the options Off and a pic of the light fixture pertain to the fog light settings.

However, when I switch them to OFF the fog lights remain ON!?? I do have the auto light function on my G (if that makes a difference).

While I'm at it...(PART 2)
I'm not too pleased with the appearance of the stock foglights (an opinion shared by many on this forum) and have intentions of changing the bulb to a HALO with a similar colour of the HID (which I think are 4350K). I've read up on a considerable amount on info regarding aftermarket lights and have come up with the following position (based on peoples responses):

- if I want something that is close to the HID look and relatively cheap: PIAA Xtreme Whites (H4) 4300K. I understand that these apparently sacrafice a bit of light imput. (Leaning towards this choice right now ***)
- if I want better light imput at the expense of apperance (not very similar to HID): Osram/Sylvania Silverstars.
- if I want identical HID look in terms of K's at the expense of quality and light output: M-TEC 2x Super White (H4). But I've heard of burn outs after short periods of time.
CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG ON ANY POINT...

My second question then is what set up are you guys running and what would you suggest for teh fogz...

Your summary of the fog light options are correct. But unfortunaltely I dont have any input on your fog light staying lit, usually they should go out with your headlamp.

I just re-read your post and you said you got your 04 coupe recently, so I am thinking it is used and the previous owner might have done the fog light mod to run them independently of the headlights.
