Picked up GReddy sides...not smooth? No Clear Coat?

Hey guys. Picked up my GReddy side skirts from the paint shop and got to washing and waxing them today. The texture is really rough. Not smooth at all. Almost like a soft sandpaper feel to it. This may be a dumb question..but...do you think the guy forgot to clear coat it? The sides don't have that shiny look to it so...it kinda looks like the paint doesnt match!

TIA

Jason

im surprised you didnt realize this before you left. But you canalways simply drive your car back and show them. Looks like the shop you went to tried to cut corners...

Exactly what they did. Lousy f'in job. I had a friend pick em up for me on Friday and we installed them last night around 4am. Its just that today I washed and waxed it and felt the surface. The shop is down in Clearwater (1 hr and 45 minutes from me) so...I can't really "simply drive back". I have to go back anyways in the next week or two as he needs to fix his sh!tty job on the bumper too. This guy really sucked!!

Yeah...I asked him when I picked it up about waxing them right away and he said I can wax them immediatly.

Again...these were installed at like 4am. I have realized that this paint guy f'ed up the paint job big time. My bumper is 15 shades off of DG. Closer to a Desert Paltinum Sides seem to be a bit closer to DG but not quite and the no clear coat thing sucks. I feel like I'm driving one of those civics with just a primed bumper

I have to get them repainted. What a waste of money that was. Time to find someone else. Live and learn I guess...

Here are some pics:

I know the flash manipulates it a bit but you can see the two different tones between the body and the sides:

Its called dry spray or orange peel. Your painter didnt know how to lay down the paint. Im sure he didnt cut and buff them.

I have to agree with you, your color match sucks. It is way too red/yellow. And G352NV is right about your skirts, clear was sprayed too dry-- hence the rough texture. I know it's a pain in the **s, but you need to take it back and have them respray everything.

And on the waxing, it is a general rule of thumb in the trade to wait 30 days for the clear to cure before waxing. What happens is the paint is still "breathing" (releasing solvents) and if you wax it, you seal the surface and it could cause it to blister.

Car looks great by the way. Good luck.
