Any one installed their Own Body Kit?

I just got my ING+1 Full Body Kit replica, a couple of my friends said that all I have to do is get the Kit painted and just install the kit my self. I'm just wondering how hard is the install on our Coupe? If you have any instruction I'll appreciate it, or should i just pay the shop to do it?

i installed the factory frt lip wich was a pain but i would just pay a body shop that does this all the time.it will line up better and if its screwed up go back to them.also if you have to make something fit perfectly you better know what your doing body work wise.

I installed the INGS+1 kit myself, although mine was authentic, so there were no gaps. I'm not sure you'd want to try that on a replica though just in case there are gaps.

I got the kit from here and will supposedly fit with no problem, I'll probably put it in and see if there is no gap. Also do you have any instruction on the install?

I would pay and have a good bodyshop do the job. Good luck though on the install. post some pics of before and after. If you do the install yourself, please let us know how is goes as well.

def take it to the body shop.....you dont want to buy an expensive car and expensive parts and then not have it turn out perfect

its all bolts.. not too hard of an install from what i've heard.. theres a few members here thats done their own install.. see if they drop a hint or two on installing

BUT your kit is a replica so i suggest you taking it to a shop since they'll be able to use different bolts and washers to make everything fit.. alot more convient for them to do it then for you to go to home depot and scouting everything out

My thought on this is that the install cost is going to be minimal, especially compared to the cost or prep/paint. Why not spend the $50-$100 and have it all done when you pick the car up? Otherwise, you're looking at having to transport the part back home, which runs the risk of scratching it. At least ask how much they'll charge to put it on.

A benefit of letting them do it, besides being able to avoid scratches, etc., is that they know all of the little tricks to get body parts to fit as perfectly as possible.

Yap, I'll most definitely ask them how much to install but since I'm from NYC price for labor here are high. I'll probably let them install it if it's below 200, I"m not sure if it cost above 200 that's why I'm preparing my self if I'll be able to do it my self.

even AUTHENTIC kits require at least some prep and finessing to make them perfect. with a replica body kit the chances that something won't line up exactly right are even greater. i had a friend of mine pay close to $1600 to prep, paint, and install a replica bodykit on his G here in NYC. the majority of the price comes from the prep and painting..... sometimes fiberglass parts need to be sanded, bondo'd, shaved, or otherwise tweaked to make sure they're fitting just right. this is not something i recommend doing a DIY with a replica kit

what i would recommend is this.... when you kit arrives, test fit it yourself to your car. it's just a bunch of phillips head screws and 10mm bolts holding everything together. bolt the kit onto your car (right outta the box, unpainted and unprepped) and see how everything fits. if it fits to your satisfaction, you can have the bodyshop just paint it right up and then install it yourself... if not, then you know it needs some work by a shop to make it right

if you need recommendations on a shop in our area, hit up the G-Squad forum and post up.... you'll get lots of responses

to take off the bumper, i don't remeber the specifics exactly... but i belive you have to remove like ten 10mm bolts on the underside of the engine cover, then there are like 1-2 on either side behind the plastic fender liners in the wheel wells

fit it on first to make sure it fits. Modify if necessary.

Have a shop paint it then install it. easy.

if you don't know how to change an intake or air filter then don't do it yourself lol
