Windshield Replacement on G35 Coupe - $1,000?!

Thank god for comprehensive coverage. Windshield replacement from the dealership, I was quoted $989 installed. They said it was $833 for the glass alone.

This seems outrageous to me. Is there any reason why the G35 coupe glass is so much?

Thankfully, my comprehensive deductible is $100. Phew!

I was quoted $800 for the OEM glass from a repair shop then another $100 for install and weather stripping. I laughed at them over the phone. I called another place and had a mobile van out the next day to put in a new windshield for only $400.

oem windshields generally cost between 300-500(bmw, mercedes, etc.,) from the stealership.

it's better to get an aftermarket windshield. they're a helluva lot cheaper. only difference is that they don't come with the manufacturers logo. big deal. woopdidoo

I just had mine replaced and it only cost me $259.00. I had to call around several different places with pricing ranging from $ 800.00 to $450.00 before I found this place in the phone book that did it for only $259.00 with new molding

I would think that the only thing to worry about would be that it is intalled properly

I thought so.... until one aftermarket windshield gave me such a headache by just looking thru it. just like wearing not-matching eyeglass. I had to replace it twice. They said when it is heatbend something can go wrong. I highly recommend you check before the installation with aftermarket windshield

thats what I would think...dish out a BIT more and get OEM quality. you may end up with a windshield like the one in Mr. Magoo for those who know what im talking about

Safelite or safelight.com (I don't recall the correct spelling). I have used them several times and the windshield is just as good as the OE.
